Toronto, ON (Sports Network) - Top-seeded Novak Djokovic won a pair of matches on Friday to move into the semifinals at the $2.649 million Rogers Cup tennis event.

The former world No. 1 Serbian star Djokovic started the day with a 6-4, 6-4 victory over American Sam Querrey in a third-round match on the hardcourts at Toronto's Rexall Centre. Querrey titled in Los Angeles two weeks ago.

Djokovic followed with a 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 win over German Tommy Haas in the quarterfinals. Haas took down Radek Stepanek 2-6, 6-4, 6-1 in the third round.

The reigning Australian Open and U.S. Open champion Djokovic is a two-time Rogers Cup titlist, including a victory over American Mardy Fish in last year's finale in Montreal, as this event shifts between Montreal and Toronto each year.

Fifth-seeded Serb Janko Tipsarevic downed 10th-seeded Croat Marin Cilic 6-2, 6-4 to advance to the quarters, where he beat Marcel Granollers by a 6-4, 6-4 margin. Granollers handled Jeremy Chardy 6-1, 6-4 earlier in the day.

American John Isner, the No. 8 seed, fired 22 aces past No. 12 seed Philipp Kohlschreiber 6-7 (3-7), 6-4, 6-4 to set up a meeting with 16th-seeded Milos Raonic of Canada.

Isner won 91 percent of his first serve points to defeat Raonic 7-6 (11-9), 6-4 and advance to the semifinals.

Frenchman Richard Gasquet, the No. 14 seed, and an 11th-seeded Fish met in the quarters after winning their respective third-round matches. Gasquet ousted fourth-seeded Czech Tomas Berdych 6-4, 6-2, while Fish overcame seventh-seeded Argentine Juan Monaco 2-6, 6-1, 6-4.

Gasquet, who reached the 2006 final, rallied from a set down to beat Fish 5-7, 6-1, 6-2.

Most of the players pulled double duty on Friday after rain washed out Thursday's schedule.

This sixth of nine ATP Masters events will pay its newest champion $522,550.
