Los Angeles, CA (Sports Network) - Third-seeded Leonardo Mayer and fourth- seeded Nicolas Mahut were each upset in the third round of the Farmers Classic on Friday.

The Argentinean Mayer was ousted by American Rajeev Ram in straight sets, as Ram smashed three aces and avoided making any double faults en route to a 7-6 (7-3), 6-3 decision.

Lithuanian qualifier Ricardas Berankis then disposed of the Frenchman Mahut in just under 90 minutes with a 6-4, 6-4 straight-set victory to advance to the semifinals, where Marinko Matosevic of Austria awaits after the sixth seed made short work of American Michael Russell with a 6-2, 6-3 triumph.

Ram will face second-seeded compatriot Sam Querrey after the 24-year-old jumped out to a 6-2, 3-1 lead over Xavier Malisse before the Belgian retired midway through the second set.
