MACON, Ga. (AP) -- A deal is in place for minor league baseball
to return to Macon's Luther Williams Field, and officials say
details will be announced this week.
The league and its teams don't have names yet, but DL Sports
Enterprises signed a three-year lease with Macon in September to use the city's historic baseball park for a minor league starting this summer.
The league -- described by organizers as a rookie league -- would let players fresh from college who weren't drafted by a major league team be eligible to play for one year. The next year, another crop of players will come into the league.
City officials say a news conference to announce the league is
planned for this week.
