Houston, TX (Sports Network) - Houston Texans linebacker Brian Cushing will miss the remainder of the season after suffering a torn anterior cruciate ligament.

The injury came during the second quarter of the Texans' 23-17 victory over the New York Jets on Monday. Jets guard Matt Slauson rolled on Cushing's leg during a cut block. According to the Chronicle, an MRI taken Tuesday morning confirmed the damage.

Head coach Gary Kubiak added that the Southern California product will have surgery when the swelling subsides.

"Sat w/Cushing on bus last night and talked with him," Kubiak said through the team's Twitter account. "He knew on field that he was in pain and didn't have a good feeling. Cushing will get well, and still has a brilliant future."

The 24-year-old, fourth-year pro helped his club go 5-0 thanks to 29 tackles and one interception.
