ATHENS, Ga. -- The third-ranked Georgia football team practiced for more than two hours in full pads on Tuesday afternoon in preparation for Saturday's showdown with Georgia Tech.

"It was another good day of practice," said Georgia head coach Mark Richt. "I thought the scout team did a good job. They did as well as they could out there today. We are getting better."

Richt and selected players also took part in the Bulldogs' weekly press conference earlier in the afternoon where they discussed the matchup with Georgia Tech.

"It's a very challenging week of preparation for us," Richt said. "I think the guys understand how important this game is, and they want to win it. They want to win all of them, but I think this game takes on a little bit more special meaning for them."

Richt was also asked about the group of seniors who will be playing their final game at Sanford Stadium this weekend.

"I'm very impressed with this senior bunch," Richt said. "They really wanted to take some ownership of this team. They didn't just want it to be another year where we came up short, so I saw a sense of urgency in the offseason."

Georgia's senior class will be honored prior to the game on Saturday.

It was also announced on Tuesday that Jarvis Jones has been named a finalist for the Butkus Award. The junior from Columbus is ranked first nationally in fumbles forced and second in tackles for loss and sacks.

The lone change from Monday's injury report was that freshman tailback Keith Marshall has a right shoulder contusion and participated in practice on a limited basis on Tuesday.

The Bulldogs (10-1) and Jackets (6-5) are set for a 12:01 p.m. kickoff on Saturday, and the contest will air nationally on ESPN.
