Tampa, FL (Sports Network) - Freshman Kyle Federico kicked three field goals,
including the go-ahead boot late in the fourth quarter, as Rutgers came away
with a 23-13 win over South Florida Thursday at Raymond James Stadium.
Gary Nova threw for 285 yards and a touchdown on 23-of-42 passing, while Jawan
Jamison rushed for 151 yards and a touchdown on 41 carries for the Scarlet
Knights (3-0, 1-0 Big East).
Timothy Wright led the receiving corps with eight catches for 125 yards and
Mark Harrison hauled in five passes for 41 yards and a score in the victory.
B.J. Daniels threw for 242 yards and three interceptions on 15-of-33 passing,
while Demetris Murray ran for 27 yards and a touchdown on nine carries for the

Facing a 2nd-and-7, Nova hit a wide open Wright down the left sideline for 46
yards to the South Florida seven-yard line.
The offense failed to punch it into the end zone, but Federico was good from
22 yards out to give the Scarlet Knights a 16-13 lead.
South Florida started its ensuing drive on the 35, but Daniels' pass on 4th-
and-3 fell incomplete, giving the ball back to Rutgers with 2:13 left.
On 2nd-and-9 from the Bulls' 41, Jamison broke through the line for a 41-yard
sprint to the end zone, sealing the final result.
South Florida struck first on its second possession of the game as Maikon
Bonani capped an eight-play, 38-yard drive with a 41-yard field goal, giving
the Bulls the early lead.
The Bulls began their third possession at the Rutgers 36 following a botched
punt recovery by Reshard Cliett. From there, South Florida could only move the
ball to the 29 and Bonani booted a 46-yarder to make it 6-0.

Merrell, giving possession back to Rutgers at the Bulls' 30.
From there, the Scarlet Knights marched down to the 6 and Nova hit Harrison in
the end zone for a 6-yard touchdown strike and a 13-6 lead with seven minutes
showing on the third-quarter clock.
Early in the fourth, the Bulls got even, using an extensive nine-play, 68-yard
drive to get down to the goal line before Murray plowed his way over the line
for a one-yard touchdown push.
