Charlottesville, VA (Sports Network) - Akil Mitchell had 18 points and eight rebounds as the Virginia Cavaliers rolled over the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, 82-54, in an Atlantic Coast Confrence clash at John Paul Jones Arena.
Joe Harris added 15 points, Justin Anderson chipped in 11 and Jontel Evans contributed 10 for Virginia (19-8, 9-5 ACC) which ended a two-game skid.
Marcus Georges-Hunt tallied 12 points and Daniel Miller had a double-double of 11 points and 11 rebounds for Georgia Tech (14-12, 4-10) which has lost three straight.
Both teams shot better than 50 percent from the floor in the first half but Virginia had three more field goals and outscored the Yellow Jackets 7-1 from the free-throw line. The Cavaliers led 41-29 at the break.
Once again Virginia reached above 50 percent shooting in the second half while the Yellow Jackets cooled to 34.6 percent while totaling only nine field goals.
The Cavaliers shot 54.2 percent from the field in the contest and had a massive 25-5 edge in points off turnovers.
