Towson, MD (Sports Network) - Jerrelle Benimon registered a double-double with
21 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Towson Tigers to an 85-65 rout over the
Delaware Blue Hens in a Colonial Athletic Association contest at the Towson
Benimon also dished out a game-high five assists while Jerome Hairston and
Marcus Damas got in on the scoring as well for Towson (13-12, 8-4 CAA),
scoring 17 and 16 points, respectively. Mike Burwell had 12 points while Bilal
Dixon grabbed a game-high 13 rebounds.
Devon Saddler finished with 20 points to lead Delaware (11-12, 6-4) but needed
20 shots to get them. Jamelle Hagins chipped in 14 points and eight boards.
Towson scored the first 11 points of the game but was unable to really pull
away after that. The Tigers shot just 38.9 percent from the field in the
opening half and led 33-23 at intermission.
The hosts made shots at a 69.2 percent clip in the second half while erupting
for 50 points in the final 20 minutes of action.
Towson put in a dominant effort on the glass, winning the rebounding edge,
51-27, with 16 of those boards coming on the offensive end.
