Williamsburg, VA (Sports Network) - Tim Rusthoven scored 17 points and pulled
down 16 rebounds, as the William & Mary Tribe notched a 72-59 victory over the
Hofstra Pride in Colonial Athletic Association play from Kaplan Arena.
Brandon Britt also had 17 points behind a 7-of-9 shooting effort off the
bench. Marcus Thornton added 16 points and Kyle Gaillard finished with 13 to
help the Tribe (9-12, 3-7 CAA) avenge an 11-point loss to Hofstra on Jan. 12.
David Imes tallied 16 points and seven rebounds to lead the Pride (5-17, 2-7),
who lost for the 15th time in their last 17 outings and are now winless in 12
tries outside of Hempstead, New York this season. Stevie Mejia had 11 points,
although he shot just 3-of-14 from the floor, and Stephen Nwaukoni rounded out
the double-digit scorers with 10 points and seven boards off the bench.
W&M shot an efficient 62.5 percent from the floor in the first half, while
Hofstra was held to 31-percent shooting. The Tribe put together an 11-0 run
late in the frame to take a 39-28 lead into intermission.
The Tribe led by as many as 16 four minutes into the second half, and Hofstra
was unable to trim the deficit to less than nine the rest of the way.
W&M was simply the better offensive team, as the Tribe shot 56.8 percent for
the game, compared to Hofstra's 35.6-percent effort from the floor.
