Los Angeles, CA (Sports Network) - Murphy Holloway recorded his fourth double-
double of the season with 16 points and 14 rebounds to push the Ole Miss
Rebels to a 73-70 decision over the Loyola Marymount Lions in a non-conference
battle at Gersten Pavilion.
Marshall Henderson tallied a game-high 18 points for Ole Miss (8-1) as it
picked up its seventh win in a row. Nick Williams and Jarvis Summers got into
the mix as well with 13 and 12 points, respectively.
Anthony Ireland finished with 17 points, nine rebounds, and five assists for
LMU (5-5), but he went 6-of-20 from the field and committed seven turnovers.
Ashley Hamilton added 13 points and eight rebounds but was responsible for six
turnovers. Ayodeji Egbeyemi chipped in 14 points while Alex Osborne
contributed nine points and 10 boards.
The Rebels took a 44-33 lead into halftime after they converted 44.1 percent
of their attempts from the field including 7-of-11 from three-point range. LMU
fell behind after hitting 41.9 percent of its field goal tries in the opening
Ole Miss led by as many as 13 early in the second half, but the Lions came
roaring back to build excitement down the stretch. Ireland sank a three-
pointer to cut the lead to 67-66 with 5:10 to play. However, Williams scored
six of his 13 points in the final five minutes to will Ole Miss to the win.
The Rebels managed to hang on despite going 1-of-8 from beyond the arc and 2-
of-8 at the free throw line in the second half.
The hard fought battle was reflected in the rebounding battle as Ole Miss held
a narrow 41-39 edge on the glass. LMU was unable to overcome its 17 turnovers
which the Rebels turned into seven costly points.
