points to push the Saint Louis Billikens to a 72-45 rout of the Eastern
Illinois Panthers in a non-league tussle.Chaifetz Arena
For the Billikens (7-3), Dwayne Evans and John Manning each added nine points.
12 different players saw action for the Billikens.
Alex Austin led the Panthers (3-9) with 17 points.
Saint Louis came out hot to start the contest, connecting on 60 percent of
its field goal attempts, including 7-of-10 from beyond the three-point arc.
EIU struggled from the field as it converted just 7-of-20 shots from the floor
in the opening half. The Billikens stellar performance on both ends of the
court sent them into the intermission with a 37-20 lead.
After the break, the Panthers improved to make 50 percent of their field goal
attempts, but went just 1-of-5 from three-point range. The Billikens also
shot 50 percent from the field in the second half and outscored the Panthers
11-0 from the free throw line. Saint Louis never trailed in the contest and
coasted to its fourth straight win.
The Billikens dominated in the paint, outscoring the Panthers 24-14. Saint
Louis converted 14 EIU turnovers into 22 points.
