PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. -- The Kennesaw State women's golf team carded a final-round 18-over par 306 to tie for eighth place at the 20-team Web.com Intercollegiate that concluded Tuesday at the par-72, 5,987-yard Marsh Landing Country Club in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.
The Owls tied No. 44 East Carolina after finishing with a 54-hole total of 30-over par 894. Fourteenth-ranked Purdue claimed the team title with a 7-under par score of 857, finishing eight shots better than No. 28 Iowa State (865). Seventeenth-ranked Texas Tech (869) was third and followed by No. 47 Florida State (886) and No. 41 UCF (867).
Kennesaw State was led by senior Ket Preamchuen (Chachoengsao, Thailand / Benchamaratrungsarit 2 School) who turned in her best performance of the season as she placed 10th with a 2-over par 218 total following rounds of 72-72-74. Preamchuen finished six shots behind Texas Tech's Gabriella Dominguez and Paula Reto of Purdue who shared individual medalist honors after posting 4-under par scores of 212.
Sophomore Kaew Preamchuen (Chachoengsao, Thailand / Datdaruni School) was part of a group of four players tying for 27th with 6-over par scores of 222. Sophomore Ines Lescudier (Marseille, France / Tulane) tied for 43rd with at 10-over par 226, while freshman Brittany Jarrett (Tift, Ga. / Tift County HS) and senior Molly Winnett (Gardendale, Ala. / Gardendale HS) tied for 77th and finished 100th, respectively.
Kennesaw State will now begin preparations for the Atlantic Sun Conference Championships scheduled Apr. 15-17 on the Pine Lakes course at Jekyll Island in Jekyll Island, Ga. The Owls are the defending conference champions after recording a four-shot victory over East Tennessee State a year ago.
