KENNESAW, Ga. -- Kennesaw State head coach Rhyll Brinsmead announced today that Henriette Nielsen from Sorø, Denmark has signed a national letter-of-intent and will join the Owls' program in 2013-14.
Nielson, a senior at Sorø Akademis skole in Denmark, has significant experience playing in World Junior Golf Series (WJGS) events throughout Europe and in the United States.
"I could not be more excited to announce that Henriette will be joining the team in the fall of 2013," Brinsmead said. "Henriette has played an extensive international schedule and has had success at the highest level. She is a phenomenal player, who is long off the tee, but the strongest part of her game is her short game which will be invaluable at the collegiate level."
Highlights of Nielsen's junior career include a win at the 2008 Danish Girls Championships and a fifth place finish at the 2009 Danish Championships. She also defeated former Georgia State standout Charlotte Lorentzen in the quarterfinals for the 2010 Danish Championships. In 2011, Nielsen placed second in the Belgium International Junior Open.
"Henriette encompasses all the values I look for in a recruit and know she will represent Kennesaw State with pride," Brinsmead said. "We have a very strong foundation with the current players on the roster and with the addition of Henriette we are advancing quickly towards our goal of becoming one of the strongest programs in the southeast and the nation. I am very excited about the future of this program as we continue to attract some of the best players from the United States and internationally."
