LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. -- One house is a total loss and three others suffered damage after a large fire in Gwinnett County Wednesday morning.
The fire broke out at around 3:30 a.m. in the 2400 block of Morning Glory Lane in Lawrenceville.
Gwinnett County Fire Lt. Colin Rhoden said the fire was fully involved when crews arrived. Responding officials knocked out a smaller fire that had spread to a nearby house before tackling the main blaze. Rhoden said the fire burned all the way to the house's foundation.
Two houses to the left of the main house were damaged; the closer one had to be evacuated. The attic of the house to the right of the main one also suffered damage. Three cars in the driveway of the main house had various levels of damage.
The Red Cross was called to help a total of seven adults and six children affected by the fire. A child and a pregnant woman were evaluated by EMS at the scene. Rhoden said neither person required hospitalization. The pregnant woman apparently lived in a house near the one that caught fire. A family pet is missing, according to Rhoden.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
