ATLANTA -- The housing market may be improving, but lots of homeowners are still facing hard times.

It's why some 3,000 people have sought mortgage help at the NACA American Dream event at America's Mart in downtown Atlanta since it opened on Thursday.

"This is a chance to sit down face to face with your lender, the decision maker and walk out of here with a solution," said Rick Herrara, Director of Communication for NACA, the non-profit Neighborhood Assistance Corporation of America.

Francis King received helped.  She contacted NACA a year ago, and today learned the organization helped her save significantly on her mortgage.

Some of the largest lenders have teams on hand:  Wells Fargo, Chase, Bank of America, and Fannie Mae.

In addition, for those needing an attorney, there's a legal team.

"It's no way I could have stayed in this home with my grandsons, whom I'm raising due to the death fo my daughter, without NACA's help," said Ms. King.

The NACA event runs through Monday night, February 24 and is open each day from 8:00a.m to 6:00a.m.
