THOMASTON, Ga -- The Georgia High School Association has been looking at the weather conditions and because of the ongoing possibility and forecast for snow and ice in many parts of the state is postponing this week's state wrestling championships.
The High School Association has been monitoring the weather conditions and there remains the possibility of more ice and snow in many parts of the state. In a statement the GHSA said: "We agree with the school systems that the safety of the students, athletes and their supporters must be a major consideration when making decisions.
The Georgia High School Association State Wrestling Championship Tournament scheduled for the Gwinnett Arena has been postponed until the weekend of February 21 & 22. The High School Association also released this plan: "In order to allow time for these athletes to properly prepare for the most important tournament of the season and because the Gwinnett Arena is not available due to previous commitments, the GHSA is exploring several options for alternate host sites. Please check the GHSA website regularly for updates."
