LOS ANGELES (NBC) -- The half-sister of actors Julia Roberts and Eric Roberts was found dead Sunday at a home on Los Angeles' Westside, according to law enforcement sources.
Nancy Motes, 37, was found unresponsive in the bathroom of the North Bundy Drive home by her fiancé about 2 p.m., the sources said. She had been pet sitting at the house.
A statement from her family given to People magazine said Motes died "of an apparent drug overdose. ... The family is both shocked and devastated."
Los Angeles police found no evidence of foul play at the scene. Sources said that officials with the Los Angeles County coroner removed prescription and non-prescription medication from the residence.
The death investigation is being handled by the coroner's department although no cause death of was immediately given. Even with an autopsy, it will be weeks before an official cause of death is released pending toxicology results.
Julia Roberts, who is nominated for a best-supporting actress Oscar for "August: Osage County," wasn't at the luncheon for nominees on Monday.
Motes and Roberts grew up in Smyrna, Ga.
