LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. -- Fire investigators are currently trying to determine the exact cause of an overnight house fire that sent one man to the hospital with serious injuries.
Firefighters responded at 12:09 a.m. to an occupant report of a house fire in the 100 block of Dogwood Lane, NW in Lawrenceville. Crews found heavy flames showing from the back of an older single-story brick home on arrival. Firefighters immediately deployed attack hose lines to control the blaze.
Firefighters made entry inside the burning home, but were forced to back out moments later due intense fire conditions and a partial collapse. The blaze caused heavy damage to the structure and a total loss to contents.
Initial fire crews were also met with an adult male occupant outside the home who sustained smoke inhalation and burns. The man was transported by ambulance to Gwinnett Medical Center for treatment of his injuries.
The Red Cross was contacted to provide assistance for three adults displaced by the damage.
