CONYERS, Ga. -- Rockdale County sheriff's officials are looking for two suspects accused of robbing at least two convenience stores.
In both incidents, the suspects sprayed some type of chemical on a store clerk before taking money.
The first robbery happened Saturday at a BP in the 2900 block of Highway 138.
Rockdale County Sheriff's Capt. Myra Pearrell said two masked men entered the store. One of them sprayed pepper spray in a store clerk's face before grabbing money out of the register.
The clerk described her attackers as white men. One wore a green camouflage jacket and a ski mask, while the other wore a dark blue hooded jacket, black hat and white bandana, and may have been armed with a machete.
The second robbery occurred Monday morning at a BP/Kangaroo Express in the 4600 block of Highway 155.
According to Pearrell, the store clerk was checking on a trash can outside when the two suspects approached. One of them sprayed the clerk in the face with pepper spray, forced her into the store and made her open the cash register. The suspect sprayed the clerk a second time before he and his accomplice stole a rack of cigarette lighters and then ran from the store.
Police believe the same two men are responsible for both robberies, as the second clerk's description of the suspects was very similar to the first clerk's.
Anyone with information in this case is asked to call the Rockdale County Sheriff's Office at 770-278-8188 or Crime Stoppers Atlanta at 404-577-TIPS.
