A steady snowfall began around 8 p.m. Thursday night.

Snow began to stick and accumulate on the ground shortly afterward. Georgia DOT crews began treating the roads and state highways Thursday evening in Towns and Union Counties because of the snow and ice.

The DOT is warning commuters across north Georgia that roads and highways may be dangerous in the morning.

In Blue Ridge, the owners of one shop, Wrapsody in Blue, Jack Morton and Michael Brunson, decided to spend the night in the shop rather than risk the roads in the morning.

So they can be sure to open for all the Florida tourists who come here this time of year hoping -- to see snow and shop.
