COLUMBUS, Ga. -- Police in Columbus say one of two people suspected in an attempted break-in was shot by a business owner and has died.

Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan said 21-year-old Achievia Upshaw was shot in her back after the window of a Courtesy Shuttle business was shattered Tuesday morning.

Authorities have said the owners of the business were inside when a rock shattered the business' front door.

Maj. Gene Hillhouse says Upshaw and a 24-year-old woman may have been trying to burglarize the business. Upshaw's alleged accomplice fled on foot and was taken into custody at a nearby apartment complex.

It's unclear if charges have been filed against the woman who was taken into custody.
