GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. -- Detectives said Tuesday they had arrested four people in connection with a series of four robberies in the Sweetwater Road area of Gwinnett County. The victims in each case were selling athletic shoes online.
The robberies took place over a four-week period from mid-November to mid-December. Investigators said the victims in the robberies were each approached on Facebook, offering to purchase the shoes for more than the victim was asking for.
Police said that when the suspects met the victims, the suspects would snatch the shoes and take off. In one incident, one of the victims gave chase, and was confronted by the suspect, who had a handgun. In another case, the victim was robbed at gunpoint.
Rashawn Jones, 20, was arrested for robbery by sudden snatching. Tyrese Watkins, 17, was charged with armed robbery. A 16 year old was also charged with two counts of armed robbery. A 15-year-old juvenile was charged with two counts of robbery by sudden snatching and one count of armed robbery.
Officials said Watkins and Jones are being held in the Gwinnett County Detention Center. The two juveniles are being detained in the Gwinnett Regional Youth Detention Center.
