Atlanta Hawks center Al Horford has a full tear of the right pectoral muscle in his chest, the team announced Friday.

Horford was injured during the Hawks' Thursday night win against the Cleveland Cavaliers. He left the game late in the first of two overtime periods.

"We will work with Al and complete our due diligence to determine the next best steps for him," Hawks President Danny Ferry said in a news release. "Injuries are part of the challenge of an NBA season."

This is the second time Horford has torn a pectoral muscle. He had a similar injury to his left side in 2011 and missed all but 11 games of the 2011-12 season, although he did return for the 2012 playoffs.

Horford, who was selected to the Eastern Conference All-Star team in 2010 and 2011, was averaging 18.6 points, 8.4 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.5 blocks a game this season. The Hawks have the third-best record in the Eastern Conference at 16-13.
