POWDER SPRINGS, Ga. -- A water main break, which left left hundreds of west Cobb County residents without water service, has been capped.

The break was first reported at around 5 a.m. Thursday at Shipp and Old Lost Mountain roads in Powder Springs.

City information manager Brad Hulsey said crews had to dig deep to find the two water lines.

About 300 homes were without water. Two subdivisions in the city of Powder Springs -- Lost Mountain Lakes and Peach Plantation -- were affected. So were two subdivisions in unincorporated Cobb County: Jennings Estates and Battlegate.

Old Lost Mountain Road was closed at the scene.
