DECATUR, Ga. - DeKalb firefighters said a man was found dead inside his home in Decatur after they put out a raging fire early Saturday morning.  When they arrived at the home, they found flames already through the windows and roof of the home.

By the time they were able to tame the fire and get inside, the man was dead.  His family identified him as 71-year-old Robert Jefferson, a Navy veteran and retired Marta bus driver.

"In our minds we're thinking, 'Wow, we just wish we would have gotten the call earlier,' because by the time we got there, the fire was already well advanced," DeKalb firefighter Eric Jackson said.

Jackson said investigators have a number of leads as to what may have caused the fire, but a full investigation will have to happen before any information is released.
