WASHINGTON (AP) -- The U.S. Senate could keep working through the night to deal with 11 of President Barack Obama's nominees.

Most of them are non-controversial but Republicans are delaying votes and refusing to allow their colleagues to take a break in a protest over rules changes. Democrats changed Senate rules to allow a simple majority vote on nominees.

Majority Leader Harry Reid says if the GOP doesn't relent, he'll keep the Senate in session "though Christmas" if necessary.
