DeKalb County District Attorney Robert James said Collins knocked on the door of the victim's Lithonia home, then forced his way inside.
"He allegedly beat her, choked her, demanded money, robbed her and attempted to sexually assault her," James said.
"Protecting seniors had always remained a top priority of my office," the D.A. added. "My office is committed to protecting our seniors and vulnerable adults, and we intend to prosecute this and similar cases to the fullest extent of the law."
A trial date for Collins has not yet been set.
