Police investigate the death of a man hit by a train in Fairburn on Dec. 10, 2013
FAIRBURN, Ga. -- Police said a 19 year-old man was struck and killed Tuesday afternoon while walking along railroad tracks in Fairburn.
Sgt. Anthony Bazydlo of the Fairburn Police Department said the man was walking along the tracks in the 100 block of East Broad Street at about 2 p.m., while wearing headphones.
Bazydlo says witnesses said he was in an area where people usually walk near the tracks.
Investigators said they think the man did not hear the oncoming train due to the headphones he was wearing.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
