ATLANTA -- A man has died after being pulled from a burning house in southwest Atlanta Tuesday morning.
The fire broke out shortly after midnight at a house on Lawton Avenue SW.
City of Atlanta spokeswoman Janet Ward said the victim was found in a bathroom. He was unconscious when fire rescue crews pulled him from the home.
Ward said the man was badly burned and also suffered smoke inhalation. He was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His name was not released, pending notification of next of kin.
A dog was also found in the house's kitchen. Ward said the dog was not hurt. Animal control officials took custody of the pet.
