ATLANTA -- The Jingle Bell Run/Walk on Saturday, December 7 will raise money to help children like Katherine Mooney of Buckhead, who was diagnosed with juvenile arthritis at the age of 2.

"Juvenile arthritis is a damaging disease," said Matt Mooney, Katherine's father. "Today she has arthritis in her knee and her eyes. We've been able to manage the disease, but it's always lingering in the background."

The Mooneys shared their struggle and their hopes for a breakthrough with a video posted on YouTube

"It's the number one cause of disability for children around the country," he added. "We're motivated to come up with a cure to eliminate this disease for us and hundreds of thousands of other families across the country."

The Jingle Bell Run/Walk will take place at Turner Field to benefit the Arthritis Foundation.

A holiday costume contest starts at 8:30 a.m., followed by a 5K Run at 9 a.m. You can register on-site at 7:30 a.m.
