ATLANTA -- Joe Patten, the Phantom of the Fox Theater, is recovering from injuries he sustained after a laggard concert goer vandalized the theater on Saturday morning.
According to a police report, Kevin Royal Jr. was located locked inside a fence at the Fox Theater by officers with bloody lacerations. Royal said he was unable to get out of the stairwell because he couldn't unlock the gate.
Royal claims he attended an event at the theater on Friday evening and that he fell asleep -- and when he woke up the building was uninhabited. Authorities say Royal then broke a window to get out of the building but was impeded by the gate, where he was located.
Authorities, along with building maintenance, searched the building and located Mr. Patton who was in need of medical attention due to "lacerations to the hands and feet" due to the fallen glass.
After conducting a brief investigation, APD officers concluded that Royal attempted to commit felonious acts but was disturbed when he discovered Patten inside the home.
Patten and Royal were rendered medical treatment on the scene. Royal was arrested and transported to the Fulton County Jail.
