ATLANTA -- An Atlanta police officer is out of the hospital after being shot late Saturday night in the Edgewood/Little Five Points section of town.
Atlanta Police Officer Kim Jones says around 10:00 p.m, an off-duty officer was working an approved extra job on Hardee Street.
Jones say Officer Christopher Smith was ambushed by a suspect that was carrying a shotgun. The suspect fired at the officer, striking him in the face and leg.
Officer Smith was transported to Grady Hospital in serious condition. He was released Sunday morning.
No arrests have been made yet.
