The advisory will be in effect from 3 a.m. to 9 a.m. Friday from Dalton in northwest Georgia to Lagrange - which is about 45 miles north of Columbus.
Forecasters say a mass of cold and dry air that brought high winds to the state is expected to weaken overnight, but temperatures in some areas are expected to drop to near freezing. Forecasters say this could create patches of frost.
Meteorologists say plants may be damaged or killed by overnight frost. Owners of sensitive outdoor foliage are encouraged to take precautionary measures to protect uncovered plants or other belongings.
