Rivo saddled Mucho Macho Man, who held off Will Take Charge to win the $5 million Classic. Gary Stevens, who is enjoying a renaissance in his first year following a brief retirement, rode the winner who won by a nose.

Stevens capped his comeback at 50 in stellar fashion, surviving a photo finish in the Classic after winning the $2 million Distaff with Beholder on Friday for a sweep of the biggest races at the two-day world championships at Santa Anita.

The local owners of Mucho Macho Man, Dean and Patti Reeves, say they "partied all night" after the win. They say they feared a repeat of 2012 when Mucho came in 2nd place. But he pulled through and took the 1st place spot.
