ATLANTA -- Authorities have arrested a man they say shot at police on Wednesday afternoon in NE Atlanta.
The incident happened near 660 Irwin Street.
According to Atlanta Police, two officers assigned to the Path Force when sitting patrol they heard gunfire. The officers then observed a man firing a handgun at them.
The officers requested assistance while they pursed the suspect on foot. The man dropped his weapon as her fled the scene. And authorities were able to apprehend him without incident.
The suspect, who has been identified as 28-year-old Derrick Lamar Byron has been charged with possession of firearm by a convicted felon, use of a firearm by a felon during commission of a crime, aggravated assault and reckless conduct.
Officers did not discharge their weapons and this incident is currently under investigation.
