"It was very stressful, confusing," Williams said of his arrest this week after 18 years as a police officer.  "[Going from] enforcing the law and then seeing the other side, where that person is handcuffed and placed in a prison cell, that's very difficult."

His attorney, Gerald Griggs, said Williams was only cooperating as a dutiful officer when he spoke with police about what happened between him and the alleged victim.

"I still don't know how you could make that leap to full confession there was never a full confession," Griggs said.

Williams is accused of showing pornography to his daughter's friend, then touching her and kissing her on her neck.  Griggs called into question the accuser's account, and why she waited more than a year to come forward about it.  He also said Williams' daughter was in the room the whole time with her father and her friend, and she had already testified that nothing inapprprpriate took place.

As for why Williams resigned, Griggs said Williams was intimidated.

"As a seasoned criminal defense attorney, I've watched numerous interrogations," Griggs said.  "You would be amazed at the power of persuasion and intimidation that the police have, when you are in that little room with that little recorder and the police are saying, 'This is what this witness said, and this is what that one said, and we're going to do this and we're going to do that...'"

Williams said he hoped to return to the force and retire as he had planned once he is proven innocent in court.
