Publix Pix convenience store
ATLANTA -- Publix Super Markets Inc. will sell its convenience stores concept PIX, which includes two stores in Georgia.
Circle K Stores Inc. will buy 11 stores in Florida and two in Georgia (Perry and Alpharetta), while Max Arnold & Sons LLC will buy one in Tennessee. The sales price was not disclosed.
Publix said it will help the nearly 120 PIX employees find employment within Publix comparable to their current positions.
"We consistently evaluate our business, including the products and services we choose to offer our customers," said Publix CEO Ed Crenshaw, in a statement. "The sale of PIX locations gives us the ability to remain passionately focused on our core business, our customers and the products and services we offer within our grocery retail environment."
Publix started the PIX concept in 2001.
