$500,000 camera used to shoot "Dumb and Dumber To" stolen

ATLANTA -- Authorities are searching for a camera being used to shoot the "Dumb and Dumber To" film in Atlanta. The camera was stolen from an SUV parked at an area IHOP restaurant. 

The incident happened on October 12 around 9 a.m. 

According to a report from Chamblee Police, a photographer from the film and his partner parked their rental vehicle at the IHOP restaurant, located on the 5500 Peachtree Industrial Boulevard, and went into the restaurant for breakfast.

When the two returned they realized the $500,000 camera was missing. The camera was to be mounted on the bottom of a helicopter -- the two were headed to Peachtree-DeKalb Airport after breakfast.

Authorities say the thieves may have punched the driver's side door lock out to gain entrance into the vehicle. The bandit made away with the 110 lb. Cineflex Elite Camera, a laptop and a headset.

Police took fingerprints from the scene. And are searching for any leads in this case. 

Photographers are offering a $5,000 reward to anyone with information on the theft or any clues that could lead to the undamaged recovery of the camera.
