ATLANTA -- Collier Road NW in Atlanta was blocked near Overbrook Drive because of an accident Wednesday morning.
A car ran off the road and into a creek at around 3 a.m., knocking down a tree and power lines, and shutting off electricity for several homes in the area.
Atlanta police spokesman Greg Lyons said the driver was drunk when his car hit a tree, rolled down an embankment and landed upside down in the water.
The driver and his passenger both suffered minor injuries. Their names were not released, but Lyon said the driver has been charged with DUI and reckless driving.
Collier Road was shut down for a few hours. It has since reopened.
