AUGUSTA, Ga. -- Organizers of an air show set for this weekend in Augusta say they've postponed the event due to the partial shutdown of the federal government.

The Augusta Chronicle reports that the 21st annual Boshears SkyFest has been rescheduled to April 26-27.

Event spokeswoman Becky Shealy says a waiver is required from the Federal Aviation Administration in order to have an air show with aerobatic performances, such as dives, loops and barrel rolls.

Shealy said the waiver is sitting on a desk inside the FAA's closed offices.

Shealy said organizers initially planned to downgrade the show to only include military plane fly-ins and fly-bys, but decided against that.

She said the community deserves the type of air show that has been advertised, which is not possible without the waiver.
