ATLANTA -- It all started with a phone call.

Tommy Morris called "The Bert Show" on Q100 to play in a contest. He said he and his 11-year-old daughter Michaela were trying to win the $10,500 cash prize.

When the show asked Morris what he would do with the money, the loving father said he would renovate Michaela's room.

Morris is raising Michaela alone; the little girl's mother died last year. After hearing his story, many "Bert Show" listeners were rooting for him to win the contest.

Unfortunately, Morris and Michaela failed to win the prize. But the show was immediately flooded with calls from listeners who offered to donate the money to make the little girl's dream come true.

A few days later, "The Bert Show" let some of those callers break the news to Morris that his daughter's dream room was about to become a reality. Their generosity left the father in tears.

Michaela and Tommy stopped by the 11Alive News Today morning show Thursday to talk about their plans for the new bedroom. Michaela said she plans to include a tribute to her mother in her renovated room.

"The Bert Show" host Bert Weiss said donations keep pouring in from across the country. Georgia's Own Credit Union and Susan Hendricks from HLN have also expressed interest in helping the family.

Thanks to a generous gift from the Atlanta Hawks, 11Alive was able to provide Tommy with a surprise as well -- tickets to an upcoming game!

The father and daughter also received some Target gift cards to continue working on Michaela's bedroom.
