FAIRBURN, Ga. -- At least one person was shot during a home invasion in south Fulton County overnight.
The shooting happened at around 4:15 a.m. Thursday on Greenwood Trace in Fairburn.
Fairburn Police Sgt. Anthony Bazydlo said the 40-year-old homeowner was shot in the chest and hand. The extent of his injuries was not immediately known.
The homeowner told police that three suspects broke into his home through the back door and demanded money. At least two of the men were armed.
Bazydlo said the homeowner grabbed his gun and shot at the suspects, who fired back. The homeowner said he believed he hit one of the suspects. Area hospitals have been asked to look out for someone arriving with a gunshot wound.
The victim was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital for treatment.
Police have not yet identified the suspects, but said they are all black men, according to Bazydlo.
