Mrs. Evelyn Lowery passed away from stroke-related complications on Sept. 26, 2013. She was 88.

Funeral services were held Wednesday at the Martin Luther King Jr. International Chapel on the campus of Morehouse College.
Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority held a casket viewing at Clark Atlanta University Tuesday night. Her widower was among those at the service.
