ATLANTA -- Police are investigating the suspicious death of a man discovered in the Castleberry Hill neighborhood Saturday night.
According to Atlanta Police, authorities were originally dispatched to a call of a person injured near Peters and Fair streets when they discovered the body of 37-year-old Joe Frierson IV of Jonesboro lying in the grass.
Officials from the Fulton County Medical Examiner's Office said Frierson died of a gunshot wound. They believe the cause of death was homicide.
Frierson taught social studies at Martin Luther King Jr. High School in DeKalb County. The school sent a letter home with students on Monday afternoon and provided grief counselors for students on Tuesday morning.
An investigation is ongoing. No further information was immediately released.
