HOSCHTON, Ga. -- The body of a young man was found inside a burning house in Jackson County Wednesday night.

The fire broke out at around 9:45 p.m. at a house on Jackson Meadows Drive in Hoschton.

David Coholich with the Jackson Trail Volunteer Fire Department said the house was 60 to 80 percent engulfed in flames when crews arrived.

A man and woman escaped the blaze and told firefighters the woman's son was still inside.

As soon as the fire was contained, crews entered the house and found the man's body in a bathroom, Coholich said. Officials said the man had autism and was about 20 years old.

The victim's mother was taken to Athens Regional Medical Center for injuries she sustained in the fire. No names have been released.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
