KENNESAW, Ga. -- Director of Athletics Vaughn Williams and head coach Brian Bohannon unveiled the first official Kennesaw State football helmet during a halftime presentation of the women's soccer game versus Ole Miss at Fifth Third Bank Stadium on Friday.

The unveiling, before a soccer crowd of 1,883, marked the culmination of a months-long process that included working on design concepts with Adidas, the official apparel provider of Kennesaw State Athletics, and concluded with three designs. The next step was to allow students, faculty, staff, fans and the Kennesaw State community the opportunity to provide input into the look the Owls will have when they kick off their inaugural season in 2015.

The clear-cut favorite and ultimate choice is a gold helmet, with the "KS" logo, a custom black stripe running from the front to the back of the helmet and a black facemask. The two-week survey received nearly 10,000 responses and the gold helmet was an overwhelming favorite, receiving nearly 60 percent of the vote.

The black helmet with the "KS" logo and gold facemask received 24 percent of the vote while the black helmet with black facemask and primary logo received nearly 16 percent of the vote.

The custom stripe was favored by nearly 67 percent of the fans and the "KS" was the favorite logo of more than 77 percent of the respondents.

Following the unveiling of the helmet, the Kennesaw State bookstore immediately began selling football-related merchandise displaying the new helmet at the stadium. The merchandise also will be available at the campus bookstore.

The three versions included a black helmet with the primary logo and a gold stripe and black facemask; gold helmet with the "KS" logo, custom black stripe and black facemask; and black helmet with "KS" logo, no stripe and gold facemask.

The full home, away and alternate uniforms will be released in the spring of 2014.
