MARIETTA, Ga. -- Five super-sized delivery trucks blocked traffic for motorists along Johnson Ferry Road at Paper Mill Road Wednesday, as they delivered five 53-ton beams to the Sope Creek bridge construction site.
The bridge span was on five 140-foot long trucks, which, once they arrived at the Paper Mill Road intersection, had to back their way down Paper Mill Road to the construction site.

"The delivery trucks must back down Paper Mill Road because there is no place for a 140-foot truck to turn around -- especially in the vicinity of the construction site," said Dan McDuff of the Cobb County Department of Transportation.
County officials said the construction project to replace the Paper Mill Road bridge over Sope Creek is on schedule, and expected to reopen for traffic by October 25.
