FORSYTH COUNTY, Ga. -- After spending hours searching for the family of a boy who said he was missing from his parents, Forsyth County Sheriff's deputies discovered the boy was lying all along.
Someone who saw the boy's photograph online said they thought they recognized the boy, and that he ran away from Cobb County.
Sheriff's deputies said the boy's mother filed a missing persons report in Cobb County Tuesday. They also said the boy gave them a false name and age.
The boy's actual name is Gyasi Francis, and deputies said he's 12 years old, not 10. His mother came from Cobb County to retrieve her son Wednesday afternoon.
Deputies said the boy ran away from home Tuesday night, walking to a gas station near the family's home. At the gas station, the boy apparently hopped in the rear trailer of a landscaper's crew and hid under a tarp. Deputies say that's how he ended up in Forsyth County.
Francis has run away from home at least twice before Tuesday's incident.
