(WXIA) -- The Farmer's Almanac has been around for decades and really is considered nothing more than folklore to the scientific community, to some it has been the force one predictor for the changing seasons.

I won't get totally into detail on how they come up with all this, but I can say that some years are hits, some years are misses. last year was a split right down the middle. The thing that the Farmer's Almanac does that other meteorologists and climatologists don't do is make bold specific dated forecasts!! Here is what they are saying about this year and for this I will focus on the eastern US...

They are calling for a much colder than normal winter across the entire region, and a wetter SE United States ... As a matter of fact Sandi Duncan is using terms such as "C-O-L-D" to describe this winter!!
