MACON, Ga. -- A middle Georgia man has been sentenced to life in prison without parole in the death of an 87-year-old widow.
A jury deliberated for less than an hour before finding Andre Bonner guilty in the October 2012 slaying. He was convicted of malice murder, burglary, aggravated assault and felony murder.
Officials have said Bonner either strangled or suffocated Christine Cook and left her body lying on the floor next to her bed. Investigators have said Bonner sold Cook's diamond ring for $7 and her bedroom television for $50.
Georgia Bureau of Investigation officials said they found Bonner's DNA under Cook's fingernails and the man told police he had done yard work at the woman's home with his father.
